Types of Incontinence

Stress Incontinence

- Stress incontinence is the involuntary leakage of a small amount of urine that can occur when laughing, sneezing, coughing, lifting heavy objects or after prostate surgery.

- Stress incontinence is usually best managed with light bladder leakage pads (also known as bladder control pads or Poise pads) or male guards.

- Light bladder leakage pads and male guards have an adhesive strip on the back that holds them in place in your undergarment and are available in a wide variety of absorbencies from light absorbency to ultimate absorbency.

- Urge incontinence is usually best managed with protective underwear (also known as pull ups or pull ons) or belted shields, although for light urge incontinence bladder leakage pads may suffice.

- Protective underwear goes on and off like regular underwear and is available in both regular (extra / moderate) and enhanced (super plus / maximum) absorbencies.

- Functional incontinence is usually best managed with adult diapers (also known as adult briefs).

- Adult diapers go on in a manner similar to infant diapers and use tabs on the side with which to fasten the adult brief closed.
